Apartment 95

I was born in the 80s, in a communist country, România. Today we are in the year 2023 and I assure you that you can still find houses with the same decoration as 30-40 years ago. An example was apartment 95.
This is the place where I lived for 6 years. A wonderful place for rent in the center of Bucharest. An old couple lived here before me, he was a shoemaker by profession and she was passionate about tailoring. When the elderly couple died, their daughter rented the apartment.

And here I enter the story. What I found? An impeccable communist apartment, a mirror of the past, an art deco splendor! Old furniture: a gem that unfortunately had to disappear; it was too worn and smelly. But I still kept the trinkets and miles. You’ll see some of the treasure found there in this series of paintings simply titled “Apartment 95.” A mix between past and present, between the image of communism and minimalist art.
