Description
I am Dhumavati, the old woman. I can be your grandmother, yes, I can! I am not a beauty, as you might have expected. I am an elderly, widowed goddess, usually dressed in white or dirty rags. But do not be disappointed, for I am the one who will teach you through disappointment, pain, and loss.
My voice whispers, ‘All things shall pass.’ I will give you the inner power to rise above it all. Once we are determined, nothing can stop you. And through me, you will find the path to liberation.
It is universally recognized that events that initially seem painful or unfortunate can later turn into blessings in disguise. Many of us have experienced examples in our own lives or in the lives of those close to us: disappointments, misfortunes, frustrations, defeats, or losses that have led to positive transformations. Life’s events can shape our character and transform an ordinary soul into an extraordinary one.
According to an ancient myth, Sati, the wife of Shiva, was cursed by her husband to live as a widow. She died by burning, and from her smoke, I, the great Goddess Dhumavati, emerged. Thus, I embody the state of anger and humiliation that Sati experienced at the time of her death, existing as a continuation of the Goddess in the form of smoke- everything that remains after devastation.
